lower otay for the first time 2.4.09

Heard so much about SD lakes producing crappies early so i figure i give it a try...i was suprise the lake was packed because it was wednesday and there were boats everywhere...spent most of the day looking for them because this was my first time fishing this lake...it wasnt long before i found some nice schools...ended the day with all this:

there are no shads around this time of year...i was using "Shinners" its live minnows and you can buy them at local tackle shops in the are...its legal out in SD lakes...give it a couple more weeks you wont even need live bait...you can pretty much get them on any jigs
