Kayak and small boat tournaments...

Kayak and small boat tournaments...

Postby Kenny on Tue Feb 12, 2008 11:00 pm

We will be switching back and forth between kayak events and small boat events...By small boats I mean anything from porta-boats, inflatables up to 18' trailer boats with motors...(electric or gas powered outboards) Most of the events will be around the South Bay and Long Beach areas. If you have any ideas we will be happy to hear them...

Nothing is engraved in stone, yet... We are looking for ideas and suggestions at this point.

Throw us your ideas on how you would like to see a tournament operate.

I am kinda thinking $20.00 per person with $5.00 going towards the website since gas has gone up so much in the last year it might make it easier on the wallet. Like Terry said we are open to any suggestions with the first event being in March after the Fred Hall Show since we are helping out our sponsors...I am also thinking besides the ocean we have some fresh water events, maybe trout and stripers...I think maybe lots of different types of fish, what do you guys think?
Halibut, Breakwater Bass, Perch, Calico/Sand Bass, Trout, Stripers, and barracuda?

I think for the boats it would be nice to have 2 man teams. 2 people per boat.
Or single if you dont want to have a partner. Not many people have boats.
I would like to see different species tourneys...like you said kenny...a halibut tourney, saltwater bass tourney,
stippers are fun too...but hard to have a pole on a boat. ;)
A striper or trout tourney would be fun.
Work hard...fish harder!

Put a kayak/floatube saltwater tourney together and they will come or, at least, I will.

I'm in for the small boat with a fee per angler. Why max it out to two per boat? I would not fish more than two my self, but what the heck, the more entrants the bigger the pot.

I think I agree with Erik...You can have as many fishing as long as they all have fishing licenses and you have all the Coast Guard safety gear needed...Horn or whistle, life jackets, some type of signal flares, Throw cussion, and we recomend a cell or vhf radio...

it would be nice if you would change it to up tp 20ft boats .. my new boat is a 20 ft but i still have my old boat that is a 18 ft but it is currently for sale and once its gone my chances of joining any more tournaments are gone unless i hitch a ride on someone elses boat ...
